Russia will sign an intergovernmental memorandum with India on developing cooperation in cargo transportation along the Northern Sea Route (NSR). The corresponding government order was published on the official legal information portal and signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

“To accept the proposal of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, agreed upon with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other interested federal executive bodies, to sign a memorandum of understanding between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of India on developing cooperation in maritime cargo transportation along the Northern Sea Route,” the document states.

As a reminder, Russia is currently actively cooperating with China to develop shipping along the Northern Sea Route. Last year, an action plan was approved to further develop shipping along the NSR between the two countries. South Korea has also expressed interest in the NSR.
