Stable ice formation started in the eastern region of the Northern Sea Route

In the eastern area of the Northern Sea Route, stable ice formation is expected to start 10-14 days earlier than the multi-year average, and ice conditions are more severe than in 2021. This was reported on the website of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Main Directorate of the Northern Sea Route”, which was launched on September 15, 2022. A scheme for the withdrawal of ships from the port of Pevek in the eastern and western directions has also been published.

“The site also contains information about applications submitted for consideration by GlavSevmorput, concerning navigation of vessels in the waters of the Northern Sea Route, issued permits for navigation and notifications of permit refusals, navigation and hydrometeorological information, data on vessel traffic and other information related to the water area of the Northern Sea Route, – Alexander Olshevsky, General Director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “GlavSevmorput” explained. – Previously, information was posted on the website of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Administration of the Northern Sea Route”.

Applications for navigation in the waters of the Northern Sea Route can be submitted both by e-mail to apps@rosatom.ru, as well as on the website in the relevant section “Consideration of applications”.
