Russia’s need for the construction of new ships by 2035 has increased to 1.5 thousand units. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Viktor Evtukhov at the session “The Future of Industries: What to Buy and What to Produce? Shipbuilding” at the Eastern Economic Forum, PortNews correspondent reports.

According to him, until recently, in accordance with the Consolidated Perspective Plan for Orders of Civil Vessels and Marine Equipment until 2035, the country’s need for ships amounted to just over 1,000 units.

“However, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Agriculture announced almost 440 additional units of marine equipment … Plus, in order to ensure cargo transportation along the NSR, as well as passenger transportation, there was a need for 32 vessels, and now about 71 more have been added. That is, we have to build about 1,500 vessels by 2035 at Russian shipyards,” Viktor Evtukhov explained.
