Chinese shipbuilding companies plan to focus on technological modernization. This includes a transition to the production of standardized modules

According to national development plans, Chinese shipbuilding, one of the country’s key strategic industries, will focus on technological modernization in the coming years. This will ensure the production of advanced and environmentally friendly vessels and enhance the sector’s global competitiveness and resilience.
Both state-owned and private enterprises in China have already begun transitioning to more advanced technologies. For example, one of China’s oldest state-owned shipbuilding companies, Dalian Shipbuilding Industry, is actively implementing efficient production models that reduce costs and shorten order delivery times:
“In the future, our shipbuilding model will be like building blocks: work will be broken down into smaller, standardized modules, specialized production lines will be formed, and workers will be assigned to specific tasks, increasing overall efficiency,” says Jiang Hongliang, head of the production division at Dalian Shipbuilding Industry.
He noted that over the past five years, the company has expanded its order portfolio for high-tech LNG tankers from 70 to 144 vessels.
The shipbuilding division of Hengli Group, a major private player in the industry, recently completed construction of an intelligent shipbuilding base in Dalian, which will help transition to the mass production of modern vessels, according to the Chinese Panorama Telegram channel.
