Russia and China will train specialists for polar waters. A memorandum on this was signed in the city of Hangzhou during the visit of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to China, reported the press service of ‘Rosmorrechflot’.

“Training will be carried out according to international standards on the basis of educational institutions under ‘Rosmorrechflot’ federal agency – Admiral Nevelskoy Maritime State University in Vladivostok and Admiral Makarov Maritime and River Fleet University in St. Petersburg,” the message says.

It states that the document reflects the common desire of Russia and China to develop partnership in the field of merchant shipping and strengthen human capital for the operation of vessels on the Northern Sea Route. Its development today is actively underway within the framework of the national project “Efficient Transport System”.

In addition to theoretical training, Chinese sailors will undergo practical skills training on specialized simulators in Russian educational facilities, which will ensure a high level of readiness to work in difficult polar conditions.
