The technology will be used to control the perimeter to prevent unauthorized persons from entering restricted areas

The FESCO transport group (an enterprise under the control of the Rosatom state corporation) and the NtechLab company have completed the first stage of implementing multi-object video analytics based on artificial intelligence to ensure the security of the Vladivostok Sea Commercial Port (VMTP, part of FESCO).
As the company’s press service reported, with the help of AI video analytics, as part of the Smart and Safe Port project, perimeter control will be carried out to prevent unauthorized persons from entering dangerous and prohibited areas. Thanks to artificial intelligence, labor safety will be increased – AI will monitor the availability of personal protective equipment (vests, masks, gloves) and signal about their absence.
In addition, the NtechLab development system will control the movement of all vehicles on the territory of VMTP, record license plates and the history of vehicle movements. As part of the second stage of the project, AI video analytics will help monitor operational processes when working with containers: recognize their prefix and number, and keep track of the transshipment time.
According to Dmitry Surovets, Vice President for Information Technology at FESCO, more than 5,000 people are in the port’s territory every day, so the issue of ensuring safety is a priority. “Artificial intelligence allows us to monitor a huge territory without involving a large staff of people and to quickly respond, for example, to labor safety violations, which have become much less frequent with the introduction of AI video analytics,” Dmitry Surovets emphasized.
NtechLab CEO Alexey Palamarchuk said that the unified monitoring system will include more than 3 thousand cameras: “The project involves the introduction of several types of our video analytics – from recognizing vehicles with license plates from more than 26 countries to monitoring the wearing of personal protective equipment by employees.”
