A single maritime operator for northern delivery has been appointed, its functions and rules of operation have been defined
In 2025, almost 3.5 million tons of cargo (at the 2024 level) will be delivered to the regions of the Far North and equivalent areas via the Northern Delivery. This was reported by the press service of the Russian government.
These data were announced by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at an operational meeting with deputy prime ministers on March 24, 2025.
“Today we will start with the decision on the northern delivery. This issue is of great importance for the well-being of the residents of the Far North and equivalent areas. Due to natural conditions, the timeframe for delivering goods there is limited. The provision of almost 3 thousand cities and towns largely depends on them. This year, almost 3.5 million tons of food, medicine, fuel and other goods that people need will be delivered to these areas,” the Prime Minister is quoted as saying.
Mikhail Mishustin noted that a single maritime operator has been appointed, its functions and rules of operation have been defined, including the procedure for interaction with participants in the northern delivery, the development and change of the route, the schedule of movement of vessels within the framework of regular cabotage transportation between sea ports.
The portal of official publication of legal acts contains the decrees of the Government of the Russian Federation “On approval of the regulation on the single maritime operator of the northern delivery” and “On approval of the principles of pricing for the services of the single maritime operator of the northern delivery and the rules for regulating tariffs for the services of the single maritime operator of the northern delivery”. According to the documents, the single maritime operator, in particular, provides services related to regular cabotage transportation, develops the route and schedule of ship traffic based on the northern delivery plan.
As IAA PortNews reported earlier, Rosatom Arctic JSC has been designated as the single maritime operator for the northern delivery. It will begin operations on January 1, 2026.
