The ships will be built for the RS class

A Chinese shipyard will build four icebreaking tugs of the HGC231401 project  for the class of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS). The parties have concluded a corresponding agreement on classification. The vessels are designed for year-round work in freezing non-Arctic seas, the press service of the classification society reports.

The tugs are steel single-deck twin-screw vessels with a fixed-pitch propeller. Two main engines provide increased power and maneuverability, while high level of automation allows for unattended maintenance of the engine room.

The main characteristics of the HGC231401 project are: length – 31 m; gross tonnage – 300 units; deadweight – 91 tons; navigation area – unlimited. Project class symbol: KM⍟ Arc4 AUT1 IWS escort tug.
