In preparation for the commissioning of the first stage of the digital shipyard at the Onega Shipbuilding and Shiprepair Plant (Republic of Karelia), the main technological equipment of the hull workshop block was put into trial operation, where sheet metal and profiles will be produced, as well as procurement, forging and assembly and welding equipment production. The preparation for the launch of the first digital shipyard in Russia was inspected by the Chairman of the Russian Maritime Board Nikolai Patrushev during his visit to Petrozavodsk, the press service of the Maritime Board reports.
The specialists have installed the largest technological unit, which initiates the entire production process of shipbuilding. This is the line for shot blasting and painting sheet and profile metal, which will ensure the preparation of metal and profile rolled products for both new and existing plant facilities, Rosmorrechflot specified.
The country’s first digital shipyard is being created as part of a deep modernization of the Onega Shipyard, which includes the construction of new production facilities with the introduction of robotic and automated production processes and digital support for all stages of shipbuilding. Most of the equipment at the digital shipyard was manufactured at Russian enterprises. During the trial operation, the plant’s specialists, together with equipment suppliers, will ensure the manufacture of parts and structures for specific projects of the plant’s production program. The main technological equipment, including those put into trial operation today, will be integrated into a unified information system. All production processes at the plant will be digitalized.
Nikolai Patrushev held a meeting at the plant management office on the implementation of the second stage of the plant’s modernization. He noted that the issue concerns the construction of an automated complex of ship equipment, the modernization of the open slipway and ship launching and lifting facility. To implement the second stage, Rosmorrechflot has been allocated 1.95 billion rubles from the reserve fund of the Russian government.
The deep modernization of the Onega Shipyard started in 2019 under a project developed by the Saint Petersburg State Marine Technical University together with JSC Center for Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Technology and FSUE Rosmorport. As part of the project, new facilities were built (a block of hull workshops, a checkpoint, a data processing center, a gasification station, and treatment facilities). Work on commissioning the created capacities is currently being completed. The Global-Marine Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Management System solution has been put into industrial operation.
The opening of a digital shipyard will increase labor productivity by at least 2 times, the number of ships built annually will increase from 3 to 10, and at least 500 additional high-tech jobs will be created.
