Transport and logistics cooperation in Eurasia should be open to all countries of the continent, and a number of Western European countries are showing interest in Eurasian international transport corridors. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced this to journalists, as follows from the broadcast of the briefing.

“To promote the idea of a big Eurasian partnership, we use the establishment of connections, harmonization of programs of existing integration associations. In the same context, relations are developing within the framework of the implementation of the Chinese Belt and Road project. The North-South corridor, the Northern Sea Route, the Persian Gulf – the port of Chittagong, Bangladesh – Mumbai – Far East – these are very promising projects. When this partnership gains sufficient momentum (and everything speaks in favor of this), then it will open competitive, more effective paths of economic exchanges, which will create a material foundation for the Eurasian security architecture,” the minister said.

Let us recall that the North-South International Transport Corridor (ITC) runs from the port of St. Petersburg to one of the largest ports on the western coast of India – Mumbai. The total length of the routes is about 7,200 km.

The Northern Sea Route is a water area bounded by the Kara Gate in the west and the Bering Strait in the east. Cargo traffic along the Northern Sea Route (NSR, Sevmorput) in 2024 amounted to 37,893,531.9 tons, which exceeds the previous record result by more than 1.6 million tons.
