The first 100-car train with polypropylene was sent on September 16, 2024, from Tobolsk station (Tyumen region) to Vladivostok station. The cargo will then be delivered to China by sea. A service for the accelerated delivery of products by container trains of increased length was organized by the Sverdlovsk Railway (SvZhD) at the request of a large petrochemical holding, the press service of the railway reports.

The long-component container train was formed on the infrastructure of the Denisovka industrial station, adjacent to the Tobolsk station. It goes to its destination at increased speed, according to a specially developed schedule. It is planned to send accelerated trains from the Tobolsk station on a regular basis – at least 5 times a month.

“For the Russian Railways holding, the formation of longer trains (including container trains) is an effective technological solution for increasing the carrying capacity of the Eastern Polygon of the railways. This allows for the acceleration of car flows, reduction of operating costs, and increase of the efficiency of traction rolling stock,” the statement says.

In January-August 2024, according to the agreed schedule, Sverdlovsk Railways sent more than 1.3 thousand container trains, which transported 2.4 million tons of various cargoes within the country and for export. On a permanent basis, containerized cargoes are transported in 166 directions (+35 new routes since the beginning of 2024).
