As part of the development of the transport and logistics industry in the Far East, 485 investment projects with a total value of 893 billion rubles are being implemented today. Of this, 284 billion rubles have already been invested, 147 projects put into operation. 80% of projects take place in border regions. This information was announced by Mr. Alexei Chekunkov, Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, at a cabinet meeting chaired by President Vladimir Putin.
According to him, 29 border crossing points (BCPs) will be modernized in the Far East by the end of 2026 as part of federal programs run by the Ministry of Transport. “Now there is a need to create logistics warehouses and services in areas adjacent to BCPs, so that the growing flow of goods creates more added value for the Far East,” the minister added.
He recalled the creation of a new BCP on Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island and an associated transport and logistics hub in Khabarovsk. “To support the creation of transport and logistics infrastructure at BCPs, we will use the mechanism of ‘Territories of Advanced Social and Economic Development’ (TASEDs): we will select land plots near BCPs and extend the priority development regime to them. Investors in the creation of new transport and logistics capacities in such areas will obtain all the benefits of TASED residents, including support in creating the necessary infrastructure. Funds for this are provided in the federal program for the development of the Far East,” said Mr. Chekunkov.
The minister also noted that container turnover in the Far East at the end of 2023 increased by 22%.
