About 40 billion rubles will be invested in the modernization of the port of Slavyanka (Primorsky Territory), and as a result of the project, 650 new jobs will be created. This was announced by the regional governor Oleg Kozhemyako at a meeting with Mr. Li Guoqiang, vice-governor of Jilin Province (PRC).

Governor Kozhemyako emphasized that the international transport corridor “Primorye-2”, which connects the ports of Slavyanka, Posiet, Zarubino with the ports of the countries in Asia – Pacific, is an important integration project for the Primorsky Territory and for the Chinese side. As part of the modernization of the port in Slavyanka, container, timber and grain terminals, a general and bulk cargo terminal, as well as a covered warehouse will be constructed.

Let us add that the issue of reconstruction of Slavyanka seaport was actively discussed in 2019. A feasibility study for the project to create a new container terminal was developed with the technological and financial participation of the Korean companies Hyundai Engineering & Construction, Hyundai Merchant Marine and KEXIM. Later, Governor Kozhemyako, during a working trip to China, asked the Chinese side to recommend investors for the reconstruction of the port. A project for the construction of a deep-water port in Slavyanka was presented at EEF-2019. It assumed that an artificial land plot should be created for the new terminals, which would allow berth depths of 16-18 m. The 2019 Year project provided for implementation in two stages: 2019-2022 and 2020-2024 and estimated project cost ranged from $453 million to $530 million.
