The “Russian Crab” group of companies has launched an introductory course on working on crab fishing vessels for trainees and young sailors.

An introductory course will be held regularly when recruiting groups for onboard practice, as well as when seafarers who have no previous experience in crab fishing go to sea. The course includes four sections: safety management and marine pollution prevention; labor protection; working with various types of crabs; processing and storage of ready products. The training is performed by captain-mentors, technology experts, and labor protection specialists of the “Russian Crab” Group of Companies.
The first batch of the course graduates, which ended this week, included 17 cadets from the Marine Engineering College of the Admiral Nevelskoy Maritime State University, the Nautical Institute of the “Dalrybvtuz” University and the Vladivostok Marine Fishery College. They plan to depart for practical at sea training on the company’s vessels in December 2023 and January 2024.
At present, the “Russian Crab” Group of Companies has a fleet of 37 vessels. Since 2020, following the results of auctions of the first stage of investment quotas, the company has been implementing a large-scale program for the construction of 10 crab fishing vessels: seven of them are designed for catching and transporting live crab, another three are crab processors for catching and processing the catch into ready products at an on-board factory. The state flag of the Russian Federation was hoisted on the lead vessel of the series, the crab catcher “Captain Alexandrov”, in June 2023.
