The first station will be installed in the port of Anadyr
Rosmorport FSUE together with Morinformsystem-Agat have developed a preliminary design of a mobile station for the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS), the use of which will reduce the cost of capital infrastructure construction for such stations. Kirill Gaida, Deputy General Director for Maritime Safety of the Rosmorport, announced this during the XIII International Forum “The Arctic: Present and Future”, PortNews reports. Such a station may be in demand in ports of seasonal operation, for example, during the Northern Delivery.
Mobile stations will be equipped with a residential module for staff accommodation on a rotational basis, will have autonomous power supply and the option to connect to station power sources.
The first such station is planned to be installed in the port of Anadyr.
The construction of the stations will be funded within the framework of one of the state programs, which is currently being negotiated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
GMDSS is an international system based on terrestrial, satellite and ship radio communication systems. The GMDSS was developed by members of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Ships subject to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea must comply with the requirements of this system.
