These include transportation of cars in containers and containerization of agricultural products.

New niches have opened on the Russian container market. Leonid Shlyakhturov, executive director of FESCO Integrated Transport, stated this during the session “Development of international transport corridors and integration of supply chains in new economic conditions” as part of Transport Week 2023 in Moscow, PortNews reports. According to Leonid Shlyakhturov, Russia has become the largest importer of finished cars from China, which are transported in containers and unloaded at the ports of the Far East, St. Petersburg and Novorossiysk.

Another niche is agricultural exports, including transportation in forty-foot containers.

According to a company representative, lines with transshipment schemes will be launched in the Baltic basin, while transshipment schemes remain relevant for parallel imports.

At the same time, there is an imbalance in the container market in Russia due to an increase in imports while exports are stagnating, the expert noted.
