The “FESCO” transport group, ”China Railway Construction Corporation” (CRCC, one of the largest state-owned construction companies in China) and “Margin Group” (a logistics group with offices in China and Russia) agreed to modernize the berth infrastructure of the Vladivostok Maritime Commercial Port (VMTP, part of FESCO). The corresponding trilateral cooperation agreement was signed in Shanghai by “FESCO” President Arkady Korostelev, “Margin Group” Director General Yang Siyu and Director General of the “CRCC” representative office in Russia Du Zhanghui, the press service of the Russian company reports.
The parties will consider the reconstruction and modernization of the infrastructure at three berths in the port of Vladivpstok.
Earlier, in an interview with PortNews, Mr. Nikolai Ermolaev, “VMTP” Managing Director said that the port is implementing a comprehensive program for the development of railway connections and maritime freight fronts scheduled for completion by 2025-2026. It involves the reconstruction of the quay walls and an increase in depth at berths to 14-15 m. Currently, the maximum depth of the port is 13 m. The reconstruction of berths No. 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13 is at the design stage.
In addition, “FESCO” President Arkady Korostelev stated that “VMTP” today proceeds 15% above its design annual container cargo transshipment capacity. In this regard, by 2028 the group plans to complete the reconstruction of the terminal to achieve a capacity of 1.2 million TEU.
FESCO Transport Group is one of the largest transport and logistics companies in Russia with assets in the field of port, railway and integrated logistics business. The group owns “Vladivostok Maritime Commercial Port”, intermodal operator “FESCO Integrated Transport”, refrigerated container operator “Dalreftrans”, “Transgarant” and “FESCO Trans” companies. The group operates logistic facilities in Novosibirsk, Khabarovsk, Tomsk and Vladivostok. Its container fleet is more than 170 thousand TEUs, the number of fitting platforms exceeds 11 thousand cars. The fleet includes more than 30 transport vessels operating mainly on FESCO shipping lines.
“VMTP” is a stevedoring company in the Russian Far East providing services for transshipment of container, general, bulk, Ro-Ro cargo. Its annual throughput reaches 5 million tons of general cargo and petroleum products, 150 thousand units of cars and wheeled vehicles and over 600 thousand TEU of container cargo. “VMTP” production facilities are located at 15 berths in the port of Vladivostok, their total length is 3.2 km. “VMTP” is one of the largest universal ports in the Russian Far East. Container turnover at “VMTP” in 2022 increased by 1.4% and amounted to 768 thousand TEU.
